The story of Allied Cycle Works
Allied was founded in 2016 by bike industry veterans with a background at brands such as Specialized, Orbea and Guru. Their ambition was bold: to build world-class carbon bikes in the United States at a time when almost the entire industry was producing in Asia. The brand took over production equipment from Canada's Guru and got started in Arkansas. Its first bike was the Alfa, a road bike with a one-piece carbon frame.
Allied quickly made a name for itself, off the road too. In 2019, the Dirty Kanza, one of the toughest gravel races in the world, was won on an Allied Able. The BC40 followed as the brand's first mountain bike, named after the Back 40 trail network in Arkansas. The headquarters are in Bentonville, a region known for its extensive mountain bike trails. That is where the bikes are designed, tested and ridden.
Engineering and in-house components
Allied develops its bikes from the ride experience outwards. The frames are made of carbon, with Allied combining different grades of fibre to strike the right balance between strength and stiffness. On the latest models, frame, cockpit and components work together as one system. So the bike rides consistently and predictably, even as the road surface changes.
Allied also designs its own components. A good example is the ST03 stem on the Able and the Echo. It lets you switch between two handlebar heights without having to re-route the cables. Many Allied bikes are fitted with parts from American specialists, such as wheels from Industry Nine.
The Allied models
The Allied Alfa is the road bike where it all began. It received a thorough update in 2023. The Alfa has pronounced race geometry with fast, direct handling and a clean, classic silhouette. It is a bike for riders who love speed and timeless looks.
The Allied Echo was completely redesigned in 2026. It is a fast road bike for roads as they really are: from smooth tarmac to broken surfaces and loose shoulders. Generous tyre clearance lets you ride wide tyres while the bike keeps its racing character. The Echo has an integrated cockpit and is designed for wireless electronic groupsets, with one or two chainrings.
The Allied Able is Allied's gravel bike. The latest generation arrived in 2025, with clearance for extra-wide tyres, fully integrated cables and a storage compartment in the frame. The Able is built for gravel racing, but it is just as much at home on long rides over rough roads.
The Allied BC40 is a lightweight cross-country mountain bike with front and rear suspension. It is made to be fast in races, but has plenty in reserve for long days on technical trails. Want it even racier? It can also be built with less travel. You will also find Allied parts at BikeSuperior.
Your Allied as a custom build at BikeSuperior
When you see an Allied, the paintwork is often the first thing you notice. Allied has its own paint team that creates custom finishes, so every bike reflects the style of its owner. That attention to finish makes every Allied one of a kind.
At BikeSuperior, you can have your Allied built up entirely to your own wishes. You start with an Alfa, Echo or Able frameset, or with a frame and shock for the BC40. You then create your own colour scheme in Allied's configurator. Together with you, we choose the groupset, wheels and components that suit how and where you ride. With a bike fit, we tailor the bike to your body and riding style. We then carefully build up your Allied in our workshop.
Torn between an Alfa and an Echo, or between an Able and a BC40? We are happy to help you decide. Visit our showroom to see the bikes up close, or get in touch. We are happy to discuss the options, from a complete bike to a full custom build.
