OPEN WI.DE. Specifications
With 650b gravel or mountain bike tyres up to 2.4’, rippled single tracks, slippery roots and loose rocks are no problem. With 700c gravel tyres up to 46 mm, even the toughest gravel tracks can be mastered in a flash. With 700c racing tyres (we recommend 35-40 mm width) you have the most comfortable racing bike ever invented. The frame of the OPEN WI.DE. weighs 1040 g and the fork 390 g.
Features of the OPEN WI.DE.
The lowered chainstay of the UP has become our most copied frame feature ever. No wonder, because it's a great way to create more tyre clearance.
The OPEN WI.DE. is even better: by lowering both chainstays, the monostay directly behind the bottom bracket becomes a highly efficient box structure. This increases the stiffness of the bottom bracket, reduces the weight and squeezes even more tyre clearance out of the frame.
More space for the tyres
One of our specialities is finding ways to fit the largest possible tyre on a bike with road geometry and road cranks. The OPEN WI.DE. achieves this thanks to the aforementioned double chainstays and a special 1x frame construction. Since most people use OPEN 1x drivetrains, we can use the space on the inner chainring to move the chainstays to the outside and increase tyre clearance.
Speed and handling of the OPEN WIDE
Most riders know that with the right bike geometry, even big tyres can be fast. The OPEN WI.DE. takes this to the extreme. Sure, a solid tyre is not as fast as a pure road tyre, but the delta is small enough not to reduce the fun on the road. And offroad there is no comparison.
Equally important is the handling, as we have a reputation to protect (check out the media reviews on the UP handling). The OPEN WI.DE. retains its agility with everything from solid mountain bike tyres to road tyres.
