Allied Echo: a modern all-road bike

The Allied Echo is a lightweight all-road bike for riders who want genuine road speed without limiting every ride to smooth tarmac. Completely redesigned for 2026, it remains a performance road bike at heart while adding the control needed for rough lanes, cobbles, hardpack sections and long routes with changing surfaces. Its position and handling retain a sporty, responsive character. The difference is that riders can now use wider tires to gain more grip, composure and comfort without turning the Echo into a dedicated gravel bike.

Lightweight carbon frame with 45 mm tire clearance

Allied claims a frame weight of 790 grams in size 56, providing a light foundation for both road-focused and mixed-surface builds. Maximum tire clearance is 700 x 45 mm. A narrower, fast-rolling setup suits quick road rides, climbing and group training. Moving towards 35 or 40 mm adds control on broken pavement, cobbles and well-surfaced unpaved roads. The full 45 mm clearance gives riders more room to prioritise traction and comfort on routes where the quality of the surface can change several times during the same ride.

Road-first geometry with greater composure

The Echo uses road-first geometry, with its riding position, power delivery and steering developed around the demands of a performance road bike. Allied has subtly rebalanced that geometry to suit wider tires and longer distances. It remains efficient on smooth roads and reacts quickly when the pace rises, while feeling calmer on rough surfaces and during fast descents. This is not an upright touring bike, but it is also not an uncompromising race machine that only performs on perfect tarmac. Its character sits between those two extremes.

Integrated cockpit and internal routing

The frame, fork and cockpit have been developed as a complete system. The integrated front end creates a clean appearance and reduces exposed components around the handlebar and head tube. Routing is fully internal, and the frame is designed for wireless electronic drivetrains. The Allied ST03 integrated stem and aero-profile seatpost complement the frame design. Because the front end is highly integrated, handlebar width, stem length and riding position should be selected carefully. Correct sizing and a well-considered fit are particularly important on a sporty all-road platform such as the Echo.

Wireless 1x and 2x drivetrain options

The Allied Echo can be configured with either a wireless 1x or 2x drivetrain. A removable front derailleur hanger supports both options, while the UDH-compatible rear dropout provides compatibility with modern drivetrain systems. A 2x setup makes sense for fast road rides, mountain routes and riders who prefer smaller steps between gears. A 1x setup offers simpler operation and can suit mixed-surface routes or long-distance riding. Clearance for a chainring of up to 55 teeth also allows the Echo to be built with high gearing for riders who regularly maintain speed on flat and rolling roads.

Allied Echo builds at BikeSuperior

These wireless groups complement the integrated design and broad range of the frame. The Echo is also a suitable starting point for a custom build, allowing the wheels, tires, gearing, cockpit and finishing components to be selected around the rider’s priorities. Lightweight wheels and fast tires create a more road-focused bike, while wider tires and a stronger wheelset add confidence on cobbles, damaged roads and hardpack detours.

Useful details for long days

Despite its performance focus, the Echo includes several practical mounting points. An additional bottle or accessory mount is positioned underneath the down tube, and there is a dedicated mount for a compatible frame bag. These details make it easier to carry extra water, food and repair equipment on long rides. Frame sizes range from 47 to 61. Allied uses adjusted geometry for the two smallest sizes to maintain balanced fit and handling across the range. Frame size should therefore be selected using body dimensions, flexibility, riding position and intended use rather than rider height alone.

Who should choose the Allied Echo?

The Allied Echo is designed for performance-minded riders who spend most of their time on the road but regularly encounter rough lanes, cobbles or smooth unpaved sections. It suits fast group rides, long solo days, mountain routes and varied all-road riding. Riders focused entirely on maximum speed over smooth tarmac may prefer a pure aero or race bike. Those who regularly ride technical gravel and loose terrain will be better served by a dedicated gravel bike. The Echo fills the space between them: a fast road bike with more tire clearance, added control and greater freedom to continue when the pavement ends.
