Our gravel range up to €7,500 tested | Segment 1
The complete overview according to the BikeSuperior team
In this first segment of our gravel bike test, we focus on bikes between €5,000 and €7,500. For many riders, this is the segment where performance, quality, and price come together in the best possible way.
Important to note: this price segment does not directly reflect frame quality. Many of these bikes can easily move into a higher segment with a more premium build. Models like the OPEN U.P. 2.0 and Factor Aluto are already approaching that level.
For this test, we used standard builds to keep the comparison fair and clear. All starting prices are based on a bike equipped with an electronic SRAM Rival AXS E1 1x13 groupset and a carbon wheelset, ensuring the models are directly comparable. In practice, however, we build almost every bike fully custom, tailored to the rider’s needs and intended use.
What stands out immediately: the differences between these bikes are significant. Not in quality, but in character. Within this segment, you’ll find both race focused gravel bikes and comfortable all rounders designed for long days in the saddle.
This is exactly what makes this segment so interesting. The choice is less about good or better, and more about the question: what will you use your gravel bike for, and what are your personal preferences? Are you looking for an all rounder, or a bike with a very distinct character?
Where will you use your gravel bike?
Gravel is not the same everywhere. The gravel we know in the Netherlands, often relatively flat and fast rolling, is very different from what you’ll encounter abroad.
Many bikes are designed with a specific type of terrain in mind. Some focus on speed and efficiency on fast surfaces, while others prioritize control, comfort, and stability on rough terrain.
This doesn’t make a bike better or worse, just different. And that’s exactly why it’s important to match your bike to your intended use.
The all round top performers

OPEN U.P. 2.0
The OPEN U.P. 2.0 stands out in this test as one of the most complete gravel bikes in this segment.
What makes this bike particularly interesting is that many design choices are clearly focused on speed. For example, the maximum tire clearance is 46 mm. This results in a slightly shorter wheelbase and gives the bike its lively and agile character.
This makes the U.P. 2.0 especially well suited to the type of gravel commonly found in the Netherlands: fast, smooth surfaces.
At the same time, the frame offers a surprising level of versatility. The bike features multiple mounting points for bags and accessories. It’s also available with an Adventure fork, making it possible to mount a front rack, for example.
The cockpit is another standout feature. The adjustable cockpit is a unique and innovative solution that provides additional fitting options.
For those looking to take it one step further, there’s the U.P.P.ER. 2.0. It shares the same design but uses higher grade carbon, placing it in the next segment.
All of this makes the U.P. 2.0 a very complete and well thought out gravel bike, and for many riders in the Netherlands, one of the most logical choices.
In short:
- Starting price: €7,199
- Tire clearance: up to 46 mm
- Frame storage: no
- Mounting points: yes (frame)
Pinarello Grevil F
The Grevil F might be the biggest surprise in this segment.
Where you might expect a typical race bike from Pinarello, the Grevil F turns out to be a highly capable all round gravel bike. The geometry is relatively forgiving, it supports tires up to 50 mm, and features frame storage and multiple mounting points.
There is also a complete ecosystem of accessories available, including frame bags per size, a rack, aero bars, and a top tube bag specifically developed for this model.
And yet, the typical Pinarello feel remains. The bike still feels sporty and invites you to push the pace.
This makes the Grevil F one of the most versatile bikes in this test, without losing its sporty character.
In short:
- Starting price: €5,600 (Grevil F5 as reference)
- Tire clearance: up to 50 mm
- Frame storage: yes
- Mounting points: yes (frame + fork)

It features a modern setup with an integrated cockpit, internal cable routing, and frame storage, resulting in a clean and high end appearance.

Strong and balanced
Aurum Manto
The Aurum Manto may not be the newest bike in this test, but it still holds its ground well.
What makes it interesting is mainly its price to performance ratio. You get a lot of bike for your money, making it an attractive option for riders entering this segment.
There are multiple build options and colorways available, allowing you to tailor the bike to your preferences.
Like the Factor Aluto, it has a sporty geometry, making it best suited for riders looking for a more race oriented position and riding style.

- Tire clearance: up to 45 mm
- Frame storage: no
- Mounting points: yes (top tube + down tube)

J.Guillem Arta
The Arta immediately stands out thanks to its titanium frame.
This results in a different ride feel compared to most carbon bikes in this test. The bike feels smoother and more comfortable, especially on longer rides.

The focus here is clearly on comfort, durability, and long distance riding.

The longer wheelbase and geometry clearly reflect the brand’s mountain bike background. The bike feels stable and confidence inspiring, especially on rough terrain.
It is also very well equipped from a practical standpoint, featuring internal cable routing, frame storage, and plenty of mounting points for bags and accessories. Wide tire clearance makes it suitable for a variety of conditions.
It is available in multiple builds and colorways.

In short:
- Starting price: €5,500

- Frame storage: yes
