Our gravel bike range tested from €7,500 to €10,000 | Segment 2
The complete overview according to the BikeSuperior team
In this second segment of our gravel bike test, we take a look at bikes between €7,500 and €10,000. This is the point where gravel bikes clearly move toward the highest level. Performance, finish, and attention to detail come together very clearly here.
Where segment 1 often revolves around the right balance between price and performance, in this segment we see that choices become more deliberate and more distinctive. Geometry, material use, finish, and unique features are no longer a compromise, but a clear expression of the brand’s vision.
In this segment, we are also entering the top tier of gravel bikes. Every model in this test can easily compete in the absolute top segment with a high-end build, such as SRAM RED AXS E1.
That makes this segment interesting, but also more critical. The differences become smaller, while in practice they become more meaningful.
Here too, price does not tell the whole story. Many of these models can move into a higher segment with a different build, while the frame is already at that level. At the same time, some models can still fully come into their own with a slightly simpler setup.
For this test, we once again started from comparable builds, so that the differences come across as fairly as possible. All starting prices in this test are based on a bike with an electronic SRAM Force AXS groupset, a high-end carbon wheelset, and a carbon handlebar/stem or integrated cockpit, so that the models can be compared properly. In practice, we build every bike fully to order, tailored to the rider.
Where does the difference lie in this segment?
The differences in this segment are less about big leaps and more about refinement, ride feel, and increasingly distinctive design. It is not just about performance here, but especially about how a bike responds. How direct it feels, how stable it remains at speed, and how naturally it adapts to different conditions.
Many models are very clearly designed with a specific use in mind. You can see that in the geometry, wheelbase, and the way a bike either builds speed or offers control. At the same time, there are also bikes that continue to focus strongly on all-round use, and stand out because of their balance.
In addition, it is good to realize that many of these bikes are designed for varied use. On longer rides, rougher terrain, and more technical conditions, these qualities often come into their own even more.
What can you expect in this segment?
In this segment, you can see a clear step up in finish and detail.
- Integration has been taken further, with the cockpit and cable routing not only being functional, but also visually clean and sleek
- Frames are built with higher-grade carbon, giving them a better balance between weight, stiffness, and comfort
- Geometry becomes more specific, with clear choices toward sportiness or comfort
- The level of finishing is visibly higher, both technically and aesthetically
But above all, you can see that every bike has a clear direction. No compromise, but a conscious choice.
The all-round standouts

ENVE MOG

The most race-focused bikes

Factor OSTRO Gravel
The Factor OSTRO Gravel breathes race DNA. The bike feels tight, direct, and uncompromising. This is not a classic gravel bike, but rather a road bike with gravel capabilities. At speed, this bike really comes to life. It asks for an active riding style and rewards that with highly direct and efficient handling.
This is clearly not a bike for riders looking for comfort, but for riders who always put speed and performance first.
In short:
- Starting price: €8,599
- Tire clearance: up to 45 mm
- Frame storage: no

OPEN U.P.P.ER. 2.0
The U.P.P.ER. 2.0 is the refined, high-end evolution of the U.P. 2.0. The bike retains its all-round character, but feels lighter, stiffer, and more precise. Balance is the key word here.
What sets this bike apart is the deliberate choice to leave out everything that does not contribute to performance. No storage, no mounting points, but fully focused on weight and efficiency. Its “all-road” versatility really comes into its own here. This is without a doubt one of the best all-road bikes in its class.
In short:

Bikes with a distinct character

3T Extrema Italia
The Extrema Italia is clearly the counterpart to the RaceMax2. Where the RaceMax2 emphasizes speed and efficiency on mixed terrain, the focus here shifts toward serious off-road use and wider tires. What immediately stands out is how efficient the bike continues to feel, even with a wide setup. With clearance for tires up to 57 mm, this is one of the most capable bikes in this segment. Here too, everything is equipped with modern features and the recognizable Made in Italy finish, giving the whole bike a premium appearance.
This is a bike for riders who seek out rougher terrain, but do not want to compromise on efficiency and finish.
In short:
- Starting price: €8,999
- Tire clearance: up to 57 mm
- Frame storage: yes
- Mounting points: yes (frame + fork)
J.Guillem Atalaya
The Atalaya shows how titanium evolves in this segment. The bike feels robust and solid, which immediately inspires confidence. The titanium frame provides a distinctive ride feel, with comfort as its foundation, but without moving away from performance. What stands out is the balance. The Atalaya is less outspoken than some other models, but precisely because of that, it is broadly versatile.
This is a bike for riders who value materials, durability, and a unique riding experience.
In short:
- Starting price: €5,999 (€8,299 in a comparable specification)
- Tire clearance: up to 50 mm
- Frame storage: no
- Mounting points: yes (frame + fork)
Allied Able
The Allied Able is a race-oriented gravel bike that has been fully designed around the use of wide tires. You notice that immediately. The bike feels efficient and fast, despite the larger tire clearance. The geometry and ride feel remain clearly sporty and focused on speed.
This makes the Able particularly interesting for gravel races on rougher terrain, where control and tire volume matter without sacrificing speed.
At the same time, it remains surprisingly capable as an all-round gravel bike.
In short:
- Starting price: €8,999
- Tire clearance: up to 57 mm
- Frame storage: yes
- Mounting points: yes (frame)
In conclusion
What this segment above all shows is how refined gravel bikes at this level have become. The differences lie less in what a bike can do, and increasingly in how it does it. In ride feel, balance, and the choices a brand makes in character and versatility. That is exactly why the right choice becomes more personal. Not because one bike is better than another, but because every bike represents a clear vision.
