    The new Factor Sarana

A new Factor for long days on gravel

Factor is a brand we know for taking speed seriously. You see that in its road bikes, but also in the OSTRO Gravel: clean, efficient and built to be ridden hard. With the new Factor Sarana, the brand adds a different type of gravel bike to the line-up. Not less sporty, but with a different focus. The Sarana is made for riders who look beyond short gravel races or fast local loops. Long days, changing surfaces and rides where comfort and control become increasingly important.

    A new category within Factor

Where the OSTRO Gravel is mainly the fast, race-oriented choice, the Sarana is aimed more at long gravel rides, ultra-events and rougher terrain. Not as a classic bikepacking bike, but as a fast gravel bike that is better prepared for rides where fatigue, comfort and stability start to play a bigger role.

Speed works differently over long distances. It is not only about how directly a bike accelerates, but also about how long you can stay comfortable, how much confidence the bike gives you and how much energy you have left when the surface keeps changing.

    Wide tires, comfort and control

One of the clearest choices on the Sarana is its tire clearance. With room for tires up to 57 mm (29 x 2.2 inch), the Sarana sits firmly on the modern side of gravel. That tire clearance is not only interesting for comfort. Wider tires provide more grip, more control and often more calmness in the bike on rougher terrain. Especially on long rides, that can help you ride more consistently and lose less energy correcting the bike.

Comfort is often underestimated on long gravel rides, especially by riders coming from a road background. But after several hours on rough surfaces, you start to notice how important comfort really is. A bike that filters vibrations better, remains stable when you get tired and asks for fewer corrections can actually be faster over long distances. Not because it feels the most explosive in the first few meters, but because it helps you save energy.

    Perfect for long rides

The Sarana is clearly prepared for longer rides. Think integrated storage in the downtube, options for frame bags and compatibility with a dropper post. The frame is also prepared for the use of a suspension gravel fork. Factor has taken the extra axle-to-crown height of such a fork into account, so the bike continues to steer logically with suspension and does not suddenly feel out of balance. That makes the bike more flexible than you might expect from Factor. You can build the Sarana clean and fast with a rigid fork, but also move it more towards comfort and control when you ride a lot of rough gravel, long distances or technical descents.

Still, that does not make the Sarana feel like a pure adventure bike. These are mainly practical choices for riders who want to tune their bike to longer rides, rougher terrain or events where equipment choice really makes a difference. It is not a bike that tries to be everything, but a gravel bike clearly designed for riders who want to combine speed with endurance, comfort and control.

Where does the Sarana fit in our gravel test?

In our gravel test, we divided the range into three clear segments: up to €7,500, from €7,500 to €10,000 and €10,000+. Not just to compare on price, but especially to show more clearly what type of gravel bike you can expect within each segment. Because you do not choose a gravel bike only based on components or weight, but mainly based on character, versatility and the way you ride.

The Factor Sarana starts at €9,499 and therefore falls into Segment 2: €7,500 to €10,000. In this segment, you find bikes where performance, finish and technical details clearly move to a higher level, but where the choice between different types of gravel bikes is still very decisive.

Within our gravel test, we would place the Sarana in the performance endurance gravel category. That means it is not purely focused on short, fast gravel races, but on riders who want to combine speed with comfort, control and long-distance capability. A bike that still feels sporty, but offers more comfort when the ride gets longer or the terrain gets rougher. This gives the Sarana an interesting position within the €7,500 to €10,000 segment. It is clearly faster and sportier than a classic adventure gravel bike, but less purely race-focused than the most direct gravel racers.

Who is the Factor Sarana for?

The Sarana is especially interesting for riders who do not want to give up speed, but are looking for more comfort, tire clearance and control. If you ride long gravel rides, multi-day adventures or events where the surface can change a lot. Or if you are looking for a high-end gravel bike that still feels good after six, eight or ten hours. Then this could be a bike that suits you.
