The story of Festka
Festka's founders saw the short lifespan of many bikes as a drawback. They wanted a bike you stay connected to for life, but it didn't exist. So they built it themselves. In 2013 came the Zero, the carbon frame that laid the foundation for every Festka model since. That same year, Festka opened its own workshop in Prague and built a frame for the Rapha Continental project.
From there, the range grew step by step. In 2015 came the Doppler, with titanium tubes joined by carbon. The Spectre followed in 2017, the Scalatore in 2018 and in 2019 the Rover, the brand's first gravel bike. Since 2024, the Spectre Gravel has also been part of the range. Festka works with technical universities and research institutions, including the European Space Agency. Design plays a big role too. Festka collaborates with artists and designers, and its bikes have been shown in galleries and design magazines around the world.
High-tech carbon and handcraft
Most carbon frames are made in one piece in a mould. Festka takes a different approach. With its own Farfalla technique, a robot winds continuous carbon fibres into tubes. This lets Festka decide precisely how stiff or compliant each tube should be. For its frames, Festka uses Ultra High Modulus carbon, a very stiff and light fibre.
The wound tubes are joined into a frame by hand in Prague. This way of building has a big advantage: a Festka is made to last. Festka can repair almost any damage, from a small paint chip to replacing a complete tube. Repainting or updating the frame later is also possible. Choose a Core finish, and the distinctive fibre pattern of the frame remains visible.
The Festka models
The Festka Spectre is Festka's stiffest and most responsive road frame. The first Spectre arrived in 2017, as both a road and a track bike. Its straight chainstays give the frame its signature stiffness. In 2023, the Spectre moved to a new generation with completely redesigned tubes. The result is a bike that turns your power straight into speed, stays stable at high speed and steers with great precision.
The Festka Scalatore was developed in close collaboration with the European Space Agency. Its name means climber in Italian, and that is exactly what it is made for. The Scalatore combines low weight with plenty of stiffness and comfort. It accelerates quickly, stays stable on long climbs and rides comfortably enough for long days in the mountains.
The Festka Spectre Gravel takes the character of the Spectre off-road. It is a stiff, fast gravel racer that joined the range in 2024. Like every Festka, the Spectre Gravel is built by hand in Prague and is available fully made to measure.
The Festka Rover became Festka's first gravel bike in 2019, after four years of development. The wavy fibre pattern in the frame strikes a good balance between stiffness and comfort. That makes the Rover built for long rides on rough trails, while still feeling at home on tarmac.
Alongside these models, Festka also builds the Machina, the Scalatore All Road, the Doppler with titanium tubes and carbon joints, and the rim-brake Classic. Curious about one of these models? Feel free to get in touch.
Festka at BikeSuperior
A Festka is a bike that revolves entirely around you. That is why we take the time to help you think it through. Torn between a Spectre and a Scalatore, or between a Spectre Gravel and a Rover? Together, we look at how and where you ride, which geometry suits you and which finish completes your Festka.
